Two recommendations have been made by the Competetion and Markets Authority regarding the quality of information given to patients about fees. These become legally binding for private practice providers from October 2014 to December 2016.They are :
1) Consultants are required to provide patients with clear written confirmation of the fee payable for their outpatient consultation when their appointment is confirmed.Also the diagnosis, proposed treatment and fee payable for any intended treatment.
Mr Fagan has been compliant with this standard of information since 2008.
2) Consultants must have published information on their clinical performance and standard fees by December 2016.
Mr Fagan has always taken this as paramount and has published his clinical performance indicators on line since 2013.
Mr Fagan has been compliant with fee publication ahead of the CMA and CQC regulations and again these have been available on line since 2013.
